Raising great kids and great parents together.

Being a parent is hard. You don’t have to do it alone.

Invest in family

There are two things we know about parenting: it can bring us great joys, and it can be one of the hardest things we do. Parents can often feel confused about how to respond to their children in a variety of situations; yet parenting comes with no instruction manual. There is a lot of relevant new information about parenting, child development, and the brain. At Growing Great Families Rachel is passionate about connecting parents with these new ideas, working through solutions to parenting challenges, and normalizing our parenting experiences. Rachel seeks to meet parents where they are in their everyday parenting challenges and give them tools and ideas to increase satisfaction of their family life.

My approach

We know that early experiences matter in a child’s development. These experiences play a role in who that child becomes as an adult. I believe strongly in giving every child the best chance they can have to move into the world as a thriving adult. To me this means giving parents and primary caregivers the tools, resources, and support they need to support their children, and at the same time take care of themselves. This doesn’t mean we have to be perfect parents; there is no such thing. What it means is that we are thoughtful about how we respond to our kids, and if we don’t have the reserves or knowledge to do this, we have access to support that helps us get there.

Why work with Rachel

Working with Rachel can help you understand the world from your children’s perspective so that you better understand your children’s behaviors, and feel empowered to respond in a way that supports your children’s development. Rachel emphasizes the importance of a strong parent-child relationship, and the importance of relating to a child with sensitivity and empathy while at the same time establishing boundaries and limits that teach the child or teen kind and respectful behavior. There is no one right way to parent. With this in mind, together with Rachel you will share ideas, discuss concepts about parenting and child development, and explore strategies that feel good for your individual family's personalities, values, goals, and needs.

"I already used some of the ideas you suggested, AND, after a small outburst after school, we had a pretty mellow evening, bedtime, and morning today. I'm feeling hopeful again. Thanks for all your great work and resources!"

—Mother of a 3 and 7 year old
